RWRHS Summer Show Sponsored by ComXo
The RWRHS is one of the oldest local societies in Windsor and is providing a platform for entertainment, education and competitions around horticulture, arts & crafts and home economics aimed at all ages in the community.
In 2015 the ComXo staff staged their monthly bake-off at the annual RWRHS Summer Show to raise money for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service in Berkshire. The team baked over 20 different cakes which were sold out by the end of the day, raising a fantastic £360 for the charity.
The event itself was one of the most successful shows in many years, attracting a record number of visitors who all enjoyed a fantastic summer party with Pimms and Cream Teas on the lawn in the gardens of St George’s School at Windsor Castle.
There was also the opportunity to win a host of cups and prize money for competitions from flower displays, to home grown vegetables, photography and baking. Six local flower clubs competed in the Magna Carta themed ‘Festival of Flower Arranging’ and a worthy winner was chosen by Admiral Sir James Perowne KBE.
Andrew Try says ‘I had the extraordinary honour of a private audience with our Patron Her Majesty The Queen and personally presented Her with the table display from this year’s winning flower club Phonix Art etc...Her Magesty was delighted with the display and commented on the creativity and industry that had gone into its production.
